Nets' Williams battling severe tendinitis, teammate Johnson says

Deron Williams has all but disappeared for the Brooklyn Nets in the postseason. The point guard who was once considered to be an heir to the league's best at the position is averaging 6.7 points on 24.1 percent shooting in three playoff games against the Atlanta Hawks.

In Games 2 and 3, Williams shot a combined 2-for-15. 

Teammate Joe Johnson said on Sunday that part of the reason Williams is struggling is he's dealing with a severe case of knee tendinitis. Williams left Saturday's Nets victory and did not return after he appeared to bang his thigh.

Nets coach Lionel Hollins said Sunday that while banged up, he hopes Williams can go in Game 4 on Monday. Hollins also defended his point guard from the heavy criticism he's received. 

Williams made close to $20 million this season and is due another $21 million next year.
