Analysis:
The news leaked Wednesday afternoon, but the league officially made the announcement Thursday, naming Wiggins the Rookie of the Year after he led all rookies in scoring while starting 82 games. Wiggins received 110 of 130 first-place votes and beat out Chicago's Nikola Mirotic 604 to 335 in total votes. The No. 1 overall pick was easily the most consistent in a mostly underwhelming rookie class, and he closed the season averaging 23.3 points, 6.0 rebounds and 4.0 assists over his final eight games. Orlando's Elfrid Payton finished third in the voting, followed by Marcus Smart (Boston), Jusuf Nurkic (Denver) and Jordan Clarkson (Los Angeles).
