Tony Allen dubs Mike Conley the 'Masked Assassin'
Since a very important part of the Memphis Grizzlies squad is back in action, some new labels are in order.
Rocking a sweet face mask to shield his still-healing steel faceplates, Mike Conley swept in like a superhero to help his team hand the Golden State Warriors a rare loss at home.
After dropping a cool 22 points in 27 minutes, teammate Tony Allen decided that the injured but still performing at a beastmode level Conley deserved a few new nicknames.
Allen floated "One-Eyed Bandit" to the media and "One-Eyed Charlie" escaped his lips, before finally settling affectionately on the "Masked Assassin."
"He's the 'Masked Assassin' over there," Allen told ESPN's Mike Wallace, motioning toward Conley's locker after the victory.
Allen, who unlocked his First-Team All-Defense spirit animal while recording a game-high four steals, was not surprised that Conley made the decision to play.
"Am I surprised at what he did? No, I'm not surprised," said Allen. "He doesn't get the credit he should for being one of the toughest players in the league.
"He could have his face caved in and he's going to go out there and try to fight through it."
