Pelicans' Holiday undergoes surgery to remove screw from leg
Summer holidays can now begin for Jrue Holiday.
The New Orleans Pelicans point guard underwent a successful procedure to remove a screw from his leg, the team announced Wednesday. The screw was from a previously placed rod in Holiday's right leg.
"I have one screw and I want to get that out but they don't have to," Holiday said last week. "I don't think (the screw) is necessary anymore. They put the screw in to hold the rod. It's just a little procedure where I'll get the screw out. I just want to get healthy."
A timeframe for Holiday's return to basketball activities hasn't been determined.
Holiday, who missed 90 games over the past two seasons, appeared in three of the Pelicans' four playoff games after only playing in three of the team's final 35 regular-season contests.
He averaged 14.8 points and 6.9 assists per game this season.
