VIDEO: Stephen Curry stuffed by rim on dunk attempt, gets friendly roll
The NBA's Most Valuable Player wasn't going to shoot poorly for too long.
Stephen Curry entered Monday's Game 4 against the Memphis Grizzlies having shot 39.7 percent in the series and 27.6 percent on threes. Even against the toughest of defenses, those numbers were due for some regression. Shots, as they say, would start falling eventually.
But what happened in the first quarter likely wasn't the regression that everyone had in mind. Instead of Curry suddenly raining in triples like hellfire, he waited more than eight minutes before making a mid-range shot, then missed a triple, and a floater, and then ... well, whatever this was:
Curry flubbed the open-court dunk but got a friendly roll from the basketball gods, who kind of owed him one at this point.
The Golden State Warriors need those kind of bounces to fight their way back from a 2-1 series deficit at The Grindhouse, and the early returns are encouraging, with the Warriors up 28-20 after a quarter.
