Wall dribbles with injured hand, Game 5 status uncertain
Basketball players need to be able to dribble with both hands. John Wall is getting there.
The Washington Wizards point guard finally was able to do some dribbling with his fractured left hand at practice Tuesday, and coach Randy Wittman called the swelling "minimal."
''He's moving in the right direction,'' Wittman said, according to the Associated Press. ''The swelling is down again. Minimal swelling. He wanted to dribble the ball a little bit, get the feel of it here.''
While Wall only took shots with his right hand (his natural side), he is expected to have the left hand examined again Tuesday or Wednesday. The Wizards are back in Atlanta for Game 5 against the Hawks on Wednesday night.
"When they check him again, I'm sure they're either going to say 'No, we need more time' or 'It's up to you' from a pain standpoint," Wittman told reporters.
The two-time All-Star and Wizards franchise player is still officially listed as questionable for Wednesday, but his status won't likely be known until game time. His replacement, Ramon Sessions, has shot 7-of-24 in the past two games. Will Bynum had a more efficient performance in Game 4, scoring 10 points in 14 minutes.
Washington missed an opportunity to take a 3-1 stranglehold in the series Monday, their third straight game without Wall. Instead, they are tied 2-2 and down to a best-of-three.
