Chris Webber on Blatt's phantom timeout: 'I wish I had Tyronn Lue 20 years ago'
Chris Webber knows poor David Blatt's timeout predicament all too well.
The Cleveland Cavaliers coach is catching flack for almost blowing the Cavs' Game 4 victory on Sunday against the Chicago Bulls by attempting to call a late timeout that he didn't have. Thankfully, former pro baller and current Cleveland associate head coach Tyronn Lue was present to save Blatt from himself.
To say that Webber knows the danger of phantom timeout calls is an understatement. In the 1993 national championship game, the former Michigan Wolverine attempted to call a timeout when his team had none, and he's been mocked for it ever since.
When asked during Game 5 about Blatt almost calling a timeout, Webber replied: "I wish I had Tyronn Lue on my team 20 years ago."
Bet you do, Webber.
