Heat's Chris Bosh on return: 'I will be ready on opening night'
Chris Bosh is setting up for a major comeback.
After his season was cut short by a diagnosis of blood clots in his lungs, the Miami Heat center told TNT viewers during Game 5 between the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Chicago Bulls that he'll be ready to return to action at the beginning of next season
"I will be ready on opening night," said Bosh. "I'm looking forward to being the best version of myself in 2015-2016 at the start."
In April it was announced that Bosh was back to lifting and running despite reportedly taking blood thinners into the middle of the month. The Heat had said in February that he would not resume full basketball activities until September - just in time for training camp.
Bosh recently said on "The Dan Le Batard Show" that he was "lucky to be alive" after he first struggled with chest pain and shortness of breath in a Feb. 1 game, but continued to play five more regular-season games and the NBA All-Star Game before being put out of commission by the life-threatening situation.
"I took that as a lesson to stop trying to be a tough guy all the time," Bosh said on the radio. "That's kinda how we're trained, to just suck it up and throw some dirt on it and get back out there."
Now, Bosh is looking forward to getting back to the game he knows so well.
"I'm very excited," he said on the TNT set. "This has given me time to think and reflect on my life and everything that's going on."
Bosh saw a successful time on the court before being sidelined, averaging 21.1 points in 44 games - his highest scoring output of his five years in Miami.
"I miss basketball right now and I think that’s good for me."
