Hawks' Carroll questionable for Game 2 with knee sprain
It looks like DeMarre Carroll's left knee injury looked a lot worse than it actually was.
The team announced Thursday that X-rays were negative on the small forward's leg. He has a knee sprain and has been listed as questionable for Game 2 against the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Carroll left Wednesday's Game 1 loss in the fourth quarter, writhing in pain after his left knee appeared to buckle on a drive to the basket.
He underwent an MRI on Thursday, and no structural damage was noted - a remarkable result considering how gruesome the joint injury first appeared. It's the best-case scenario for the Hawks, who will hope the solid defender can play again in the series.
Carroll was walking without crutches on Thursday, with Game 2 set to go Friday night in Atlanta.
The pending unrestricted free agent averaged a career-high 12.6 points and 5.3 rebounds while converting more than 39 percent of his 3-point attempts during the regular season.
