Disgraced ex-NBA referee Donaghy to appear in documentary on infamous liars
Former referee Tim Donaghy likely didn't plan for his life to become defined by his transgressions, however, it seems that he hasn't resisted the residual effects of the controversial gambling scandal that rocked the NBA.
In fact, it seems he has embraced them.
A new documentary, set to premiere May 28 on CNBC, revisits the notorious deeds performed by Donaghy during his time as an NBA referee. In the film, Donaghy provides his own detailed accounts of his actions.
Here is a teaser for the doc, titled "Dishonesty: The Truth About Lies."
In 2008, Donaghy was sentenced to 15 months in prison for his participation in the scandal. He pleaded guilty to conspiracy to engage in wire fraud and transmitting betting information through interstate commerce.
Since his release from prison, Donaghy has spoken about the infamous 2002 Western Conference Finals series between the Sacramento Kings and Los Angeles Lakers and written a memoir.
He currently runs a sports handicapping website.
Donaghy made waves last year when claimed that NBA referees were giving preferential treatment to the Brooklyn Nets in their first-round series against the Toronto Raptors.
