VIDEO: Dunk champion Zach LaVine flashes 44-inch vertical jump
Try to contain your utter shock and surprise: The NBA's Slam Dunk Champion has an enormous vertical leap. We'll give you a second to collect your breath.
Zach LaVine has been working out with P3 Sport Science to begin his offseason, and he, along with several other notable NBA players, is seeing quick results. On Saturday, the Minnesota Timberwolves rookie was caught recording a maximum reach of 12-foot-1, a ridiculous 44-inch vertical jump.
Vertical jump scores are all the rage coming out of last week's NBA Draft Combine, which saw Notre Dame prospect Pat Connaughton lead the pack with a 44-inch vertical of his own. LaVine's mark would tie with Connaughton for the second-best vertical ever recorded at the combine and would tie for fifth in DraftExpress' database of measurements, which extends beyond the official combine scores.
At last year's combine, LaVine recorded a 41.5-inch vertical but allegedly recorded a 46-inch mark when working out for the Los Angeles Lakers. That would tie D.J. Stephens' 46-inch vertical from 2013 as the largest in the DraftExpress database.
Both jumps are also higher than the one that P3 Sport Science touted for LaVine's teammate, Andrew Wiggins, around this time last year.
Again, it's just shocking that a guy who can do these dunks has also recorded one of the largest vertical jumps ever.
