Hawks contradict Carroll's statement on Korver's ankle injury, claim there's no break

The Atlanta Hawks are denying pretend-doctor DeMarre Carroll's statement on Kyle Korver's injury.

With the Hawks sharpshooter out for the remainder of the postseason with what the team described as a "severe high right ankle sprain," Carroll's prognosis Sunday may have increased the level of concern tenfold:

However, it seems Carroll made that statement prematurely.

The Hawks said Korver has yet to see a specialist for a second opinion on the injury, but claim there is no break in his ankle, according to ESPN's Kevin Arnovitz. There is no timetable for his recovery and return.

Korver's injury occurred during the final minutes of the third quarter in Game 2 when Cleveland Cavaliers point guard Matthew Dellavedova dove for a loose ball and landed on Korver's right leg. Atlanta's starting shooting guard immediately came up limping and left the game for good.

This wouldn't be the Hawks' first time experiencing a depletion of their roster due to injury, as Thabo Sefolosha has been out of commission since April. Carroll has been struggling with a leg injury of his own, but has been able to play through it.

As if this recent rash of injuries to the Hawks' roster wasn't enough, the chances of a miraculous series comeback are not looking so good - if history is any indicator.
