LeBron is not Akron's only son
Fascinating storylines for the 2015 NBA Finals are already aplenty, but now we can add one more fun fact to the list: Stephen Curry was born in Akron, the Cleveland suburb made famous by NBA superstar LeBron James.
Anyone who hasn't done some deep digging in Chef Curry's bio probably thought the Golden State Warriors point guard was born in Charlotte, N.C., but he was actually born in the very same hospital as James.
LeBron Raymone James was born Dec. 30, 1984. Thirty-nine months later, Wardell Stephen Curry II entered the world March 14, 1988. His father, Dell, played for the Cleveland Cavaliers at the time. Twenty-seven years and three months later, the two are set to face each other on the biggest stage professional basketball has to offer.
Don't expect James to harbor any resentment toward this year's MVP for stealing his Akron thunder, though. When asked about this unique connection, James, a four-time MVP himself, told reporters, "I think it's great that another kid born in Akron, Ohio can win an MVP."
Curry and the Warriors will host James and his Cavs for Game 1 of the finals on June 4.
