Agent denies Jeff Hornacek declined meeting with Iowa State out of disinterest

Jeff Hornacek did not decline a meeting with his alma mater.

Okay, the Phoenix Suns head did technically decline a meeting, but it was because Iowa State failed to request a meeting properly and not due to his disinterest in the recently-vacant coaching position.

After CycloneFanatic.com published a report that Hornacek was not interested in the college scene, his agent, Steve Kauffman, refuted these allegations in a comment.

"We represent Jeff Hornacek. Rarely do I post but I will simply say this story is inaccurate. Jeff loves his alma mater and the facts are simply wrong here," Kauffman wrote.

"School knew they (Iowa State) had to request permission in a certain manner from the Phoenix Suns. I do not wish to allocate the blame as to the parties at fault here. But it's a shame."

Hornacek has one year left in his contract, and being an Iowa State graduate may be the "brand name" that Dr. Steven Leath is looking for to fill Fred Hoiberg's place.
