Cavs' Dellavedova 'much better' after being treated for dehydration overnight
Matthew Dellavedova probably never expected to be playing 39 minutes in an NBA Finals game, so forgive him for not being wholly prepared for the physical toll.
Media covering the Finals were waiting patiently for Dellavedova to come to the podium after he dropped a playoff career-high 20 points in the Cleveland Cavaliers' 96-91 Game 3 win over the Golden State Warriors, but he never showed up.
Dellavedova, who was all over the court all night and made several big plays down the stretch, suffered from severe cramping after the game and was taken to the Cleveland Clinic for continued treatment, which included an IV.
The good news is that, after spending the night in the hospital and being treated for physical exhaustion and dehydration, Dellavedova is doing "much better," according to ESPN's Marc Stein.
His podium game may not have ended with an actual podium experience, but Dellavedova will nonetheless have his performance vindicated in what should be an entertaining press scrum. He's reportedly scheduled to be discharged from the hospital shortly, and is expected to meet media later in the day.
