Steph Curry dehydrated after Game 5, will play in Game 6
Superstardom is exhausting.
Steph Curry's 37-point outburst in Game 5 of the NBA Finals on Sunday has him feeling a little worse for wear. Playing 42 minutes and setting the nets aflame will do that to a player, as LeBron James learned after Game 2.
Curry was spotted hunched over in a hallway and rubbing his head following the game, after which he went to the training room with family. There was originally some concern about the Golden State Warriors superstar, but reporters were quickly informed that it was a case of dehydration and some light-headedness.
The Warriors gave Curry a double-dose of treatment to make him feel better - not only did they get fluids into him, but they had him watching his own game tape, too. A Warriors' spokesperson told assembled media that Curry will be on the team's morning flight to Cleveland, allaying any residual concerns about his status for Game 6 on Tuesday. They also clarified that Curry was drinking fluids and did not require an IV.
Fatigue is understandable at this point in the season and has reared its head for a handful of players in the series, and probably for a few more who have kept it quiet. Curry appeared in 80 regular season games and Sunday marked his 20th playoff game.
He's averaging 26.2 points, five rebounds, and 5.8 assists in 42.4 minutes in the series, shooting 44.7 percent and 40.7 percent on threes, which somehow isn't the most ridiculous workload of the finals.
