PHOTOS: Warriors fans celebrate championship
Forty years is a long time between titles, and fans of the Golden State Warriors let loose in Oakland Tuesday night after the Dubs' first NBA championship since 1975.
While the Bay Area has recent prestige from the San Francisco Giants' three World Series titles in the last six years, the Warriors play in Oakland - a city that hasn't enjoyed a championship since the Athletics in 1989.
More than 20,000 fans watched Game 6, which took place in Cleveland, on Oracle Arena's video board, exploding in noise when the Warriors clinched.
In downtown Oakland, fans hit the streets for an impromptu block party.
While there were some accounts of a fight or two breaking out, there were no reports of serious problems as of Wednesday morning. Meanwhile, at the Alta Bates Medical Center in Oakland, some newborns arrived already adorned in blue and yellow.
