The Detroit Pistons, like most teams with a coveted lottery pick in Thursday's NBA Draft, are open to numerous possibilities and considering all options.
The Pistons have already been active this offseason, bringing in stretch four Ersan Ilyasova from the Milwaukee Bucks in exchange for little more than a heap of dead salary weight. With one of their biggest areas of need filled, the Pistons may be willing to trade down from their No. 8 perch in the draft, according to Terry Foster of the Detroit News.
ESPN's Chad Ford speculated last month that the Pistons would be willing to deal the pick for immediate help, in their efforts to accelerate a rebuild and make themselves competitive next season.
Foster reports that if the team does keep its pick it will likely target a swingman who can shoot - like Stanley Johnson of Arizona or Devin Booker out of Kentucky - but that they may also have an opportunity to trade up in the draft:
The Pistons are expected to select a small forward if they keep the eighth pick. There is also a chance they'll trade up with the New York Knicks, who are looking to deal the fourth pick.
Regardless, whomever the Pistons select will be a premier perimeter shooter.
Depending on what the Pistons decide to do about impending unrestricted free agent Greg Monroe, they could also look to fortify their frontcourt depth with someone like Frank Kaminsky or Myles Turner, both of whom they brought in for workouts this past week.
