Report: Pistons looking to move Jennings, interested in Knicks' Hardaway

With Reggie Jackson now in the fold in the Motor City, the Detroit Pistons can afford to shop Brandon Jennings to shore up depth in other areas.

The Pistons are open to trading the 25-year-old, with Tim Hardaway Jr. of the New York Knicks being high on their wish list, reports ESPN's Ian Begley.

Jennings is slated to make $8.3 million in 2015-16, the final year of his contract, meaning the Knicks will have to include more assets, including their trade exception, should they acquire Hardaway.

The move would also facilitate a reunion between father and son, as former NBA All-Star Tim Hardaway Sr. is an assistant coach with the Pistons.

Jennings missed 41 games last season after rupturing his left Achilles tendon against the Milwaukee Bucks on Jan. 24.

The 6-foot-1 gunslinger averaged 15.4 points and 6.6 assists with a true shooting percentage of 52.2 and a PER of 19.7. Detroit finished the season with a record of 15-26 with Jennings watching from the sidelines.

Jackson was acquired by the Pistons on Feb. 19 in a three-team trade with the Oklahoma City Thunder and Utah Jazz. The Boston College alumnus thrived in his new environment, not having to play backup to an All-Star point guard (Russell Westbrook) as he did in OKC, which resulted in his averages increasing substantially from 12.8 points and 4.3 assists to 17.6 and 9.2 respectively.

Current Pistons starting shooting guard Kentavious Caldwell-Pope had similar numbers to Hardaway's during the 2014-15 season, which begs the question what exactly Detroit would be getting from the second-generation NBA pro that they don't already have with Caldwell-Pope.
