Report: Cavaliers' Shumpert was on painkillers throughout NBA Finals
A collision with Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green during Game 3 of the NBA Finals forced Iman Shumpert of the Cleveland Cavaliers to the locker room, although the 24-year-old shooting guard ultimately returned later that game.
Despite playing over 35 minutes in each of the final three games with a bruised left shoulder, it was clear the injury was causing him pain every time he stepped on the floor.
The pain was so severe he needed to be shot up with painkillers throughout the remainder of the series, reports Chris Hayes of Northeast Ohio Media Group.
It was the same shoulder Shumpert dislocated as a member of the New York Knicks during a road game against the Boston Celtics on Dec. 12.
Shumpert reportedly won't require surgery, all he'll need is rest and treatment.
Shumpert shot just 25 percent from the field and 28.7 percent from 3-point range in Games 4, 5, and 6, which is to be expected from someone functioning with just one good arm.
