DeMarcus Cousins isn't the first star to call George Karl a snake in the grass
He'll never admit it and we'll never know for sure, but given the timing, it seemed rather obvious that DeMarcus Cousins' late-night tweet referring to a snake in the grass was directed at head coach George Karl.
Moments earlier, Yahoo Sports' Adrian Wojnarowski reported that Karl was pushing Sacramento Kings management to trade Cousins.
With his tweet, Cousins became the latest in a long line of Karl-coached stars to seemingly compare the coaching legend to a lawn-roaming serpent.
Days after getting his wish of being traded from Denver to New York, Carmelo Anthony watched Karl tell TNT that he was enthusiastic about how the Nuggets would defend without 'Melo. This followed moments later:
Then there was good ol' J.R.:
Smith's tweet did come during the 2011 lockout, so there were many potential intended targets, but his Nuggets' tenure under Karl had just recently ended.
If Lawson's tweet was Karl-related, George probably wasn't aware, as reports earlier this year said the 64-year-old coach was hoping for a reunion with his former point guard.
Then there was Andre Iguodala, who Karl always believed was the Nuggets mole who fed Mark Jackson and the Golden State Warriors information during their 2013 playoff series. Five months after those Karl comments, and once his first season with the Warriors was complete, this from Iguodala:
And finally, with rumors swirling that Karl wants Boogie out of Sac-Town:
Anthony's isolation-heavy offense may be an old-time product of a bygone era, but the Knicks star appears to have been at the forefront of at least one trend.
