Report: Nets' Alan Anderson to opt out, become free agent

Alan Anderson is a man of his word.

The 32-year-old shooting guard is expected to opt out of his contract with the Brooklyn Nets in order to become an unrestricted free agent on July 1, reports ESPN's Mike Mazzeo.

Anderson made his intentions clear in May when he indicated that he planned to hit free agency this summer:

The former 2011 Spanish Cup MVP started 19 of the 74 regular-season games he appeared in for the Nets, averaging 7.4 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 1.1 assists in 23.6 minutes.
