Greg Monroe is looking for a new home and teams are lining up to speak to the post maestro, including the Portland Trail Blazers, who will meet with the unrestricted free agent Wednesday morning in Washington, D.C., Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports reports.
In attendance for the Blazers will be general manager Neil Olshey, head coach Terry Stotts, and owner Paul Allen. Monroe will also meet with the Milwaukee Bucks, Los Angeles Lakers, and New York Knicks on Wednesday, according to Ken Berger of CBSSports. He's said to be looking for a three-year deal.
If the Blazers sign Monroe, it will be yet another sign of their intentions to move on from LaMarcus Aldridge. Monroe is a natural power forward and operates in the mid-block, much like Aldridge.
Monroe has been a model of consistency in his time with the Detroit Pistons. He's not much of a defender, but is an elite playmaker on the block, capable of finishing with both hands. He's armed with an array of post moves and is also a creative passer.
The 25-year-old Monroe averaged 15.6 points, 9.7 rebounds, and 2.5 assists in 32.2 minutes per game over the past four seasons in Detroit.
