Report: Celtics agree to 2-year, $24-million deal with Amir Johnson

The Boston Celtics and free-agent power forward Amir Johnson have reportedly agreed to terms on a two-year contract, according to Yahoo Sports' Adrian Wojnarowski.

The second year of the contract, however, is believed to be non-guaranteed, according to Paul Flannery of SB Nation. It's a concession that would stand as a major coup for the Celtics, given Johnson's recent history of ankle troubles.

The agreement marks the end of an era for Johnson and the Toronto Raptors, as the fan favorite's six-year run north of the border concludes with Johnson heading to an Atlantic Division rival.

A 10-year veteran, and the last NBA player to be drafted out of high school, Johnson has long been one of the most underrated big men in the NBA, his modest statistics paling in comparison to his overall on-court impact.

An outstanding defender, screener, and finisher, Johnson has been slowed by a rash of ankle injuries in recent years, though the 28-year-old has found a way to miss only 13 games over the last three seasons combined - a testament to his pain threshold and gritty demeanor.

Johnson averaged 9.3 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 1.6 assists on a True Shooting Percentage of 60.3 in 26 minutes per game with the Raptors in 2014-15, and will join a Celtics rotation of bigs that includes Jared Sullinger, Kelly Olynyk, and Tyler Zeller.
