The Los Angeles Clippers' first priority is to re-sign DeAndre Jordan. And if they are successful in doing so, the team is confident they will lure Paul Pierce with their $3.4-million exception, according to Yahoo Sports' Adrian Wojnarowski.
It's been a while since we've heard a Pierce-to-the-Clippers rumor. The veteran forward opted out of $5.5-million for next season with the Washington Wizards, so a decision to take less with the Clippers may sound odd. Reading between the lines, however, it's likely he's just keeping his options open ahead of what's very likely his final NBA season.
The Wiz would like to keep Pierce, who will be 38 on opening night, and they reportedly offered him $6.6 million for next season earlier Wednesday. He has been linked to the franchise he made his name with, the Boston Celtics, as well.
Still, the Clippers also provide a draw for The Truth. Pierce is a Los Angeles native and played the best basketball of his career under Doc Rivers in Boston.
