The Portland Trail Blazers and Milwaukee Bucks have both made "significant inroads" in their pursuit of free-agent big man Greg Monroe, according to Yahoo Sports' Adrian Wojnarowski.
Monroe was scheduled to meet with the Blazers, Bucks, Los Angeles Lakers, and New York Knicks on Wednesday. Earlier in the day, a report surfaced out of Portland that the Blazers are still legitimately holding out hope for LaMarcus Aldridge's return - and pairing him with Monroe.
The Bucks - in the market for a center and mindful of his relationship with coach Jason Kidd - were thought to be a possibility for veteran Tyson Chandler, but that went up in smoke when he reportedly signed with the Phoenix Suns only hours into free agency.
Monroe can play center or power forward, and while he's not a great defender, he's solid with the ball in the post. The Knicks were expected to be favorites for his services.
