The Cleveland Cavaliers are looking to heap more figures onto their mountainous salary bill.
The Cavaliers and free-agent shooting guard Rodney Stuckey share mutual interest and have conducted exploratory talks, Chris Hayes of Cleveland.com reports.
Stuckey has received interest from the Sacramento Kings, Washington Wizards, Houston Rockets, and Indiana Pacers. He enjoyed a strong turnaround campaign with the Pacers last year, posting averages of 12.6 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 3.1 assists while shooting 39 percent from deep.
With so many teams on his tail, Stuckey will likely be too pricey for the Cavaliers. Having dished out a max contract to Kevin Love, an extension for Iman Shumpert, a near-deal with Tristan Thompson, and another $22 million earmarked for LeBron James, Cleveland is bursting at the seams with contractual agreements.
That being said, Stuckey might find some appeal in playing on a championship contender. He would likely have to take a minimum deal (the Cavaliers project to be over the tax apron), but it's an option.
The 29-year-old spent the first seven seasons of his career with the Detroit Pistons before spending last season with the Pacers.
