Kevin Love texts Kelly Olynyk about shoulder injury: 'No hard feelings'
Time heals all wounds. So, too, does money.
With a fresh new contract with the Cleveland Cavaliers, one that will reportedly pay him $110 million over five seasons, Kevin Love is ready to move on from his season-ending shoulder injury.
Love dislocated his shoulder in Game 4 of the first round of the playoffs against the Boston Celtics, when Kelly Olynyk pulled on his arm while fighting for a rebound. It cost Love the final three rounds and left the Cavs woefully shorthanded for an NBA Finals they would ultimately lose.
Originally, Love called the play "bush-league" and accused Olynyk of doing it intentionally, while Cavs fans came to Love's aid on social media. Olynyk called the accusation "ridiculous" but tried to apologize, something Love reportedly rebuffed.
That's no longer the case, as Love recently reached out to Olynyk to sort things out, as he told Pablo S. Torre from ESPN:
Of course I was pissed. I was very emotional. And that was seen and heard, what I said (about Olynyk's allegedly dirty play). I wanted to make this deep run with these guys and be out there on the floor. That was very tough, from a human aspect.
...
You don't want to have any bad blood; the NBA is an elite fraternity. As time went on, I was upset, but I always knew that I was going to get to the point where I could talk to Kelly and say, "Hey, man. All good." So we could move on. So I asked my agent to get me Kelly's number. And that was it, just a text exchange: "Just want to let you know, no hard feelings. It's all part of the game." It was very genuine.
Love is expected to be ready for the start of the regular season.
