Blazers' Henderson has hip surgery, will be ready for training camp

One of Gerald Henderson's first acts as a Portland Trail Blazer was undergoing arthroscopic surgery on his left hip.

The 6-foot-5 shooting guard, acquired from the Charlotte Hornets for Nicolas Batum two weeks ago, had a debridement arthroscopy procedure, the Blazers announced Tuesday, adding that he is expected to be ready for training camp.

The 27-year-old Duke product has spent his entire six-year NBA career in Charlotte, averaging just over 12 points and 3.4 rebounds this past season, in which he played a career-high 80 games.

Henderson will inherit the two-spot from Wesley Matthews in Portland alongside Damian Lillard on a new-look team that will be hard-pressed to return to the playoffs next season.
