The Sixth Man of the Year has officially signed on with the Los Angeles Lakers.
Lou Williams signed with the Lakers on Thursday, the team announced. Terms of the contract weren't made public, but it's believed that Williams signed a three-year pact worth $21 million.
"I am pleased to welcome Lou to the Laker family," general manager Mitch Kupchak said in a team statement. "We look forward to his contributions both on-court in bolstering our guard rotation, and also for the veteran leadership he can provide to our young players in the locker room."
Williams is strictly a gunner, but he's one of the league's best at creating his own shot. An ACL injury nearly derailed his career, but Williams posted a bounce-back campaign last year, averaging 15.5 points and 2.1 assists in 25.2 minutes per game.
Williams operates best off high pick-and-roll situations. He ranked first among all players in points per pick-and-roll for the ball handler (minimum: 100 possessions) last season for the Toronto Raptors.
The 28-year-old Williams will likely reprise his Sixth Man role with the Lakers, although his fit alongside Nick "Swaggy P" Young in bench units is questionable.
