Marcus Thornton is heading to the Lone Star State.
Thornton, 28, will be joining the Houston Rockets next season - his sixth team in as many campaigns - on a one-year, veteran's minimum deal. The transaction was reported Sunday by The Houston Chronicle's Jonathan Feigen and Fox 26's Mark Berman.
Thornton has become quite the journeyman within the league since being drafted 43rd overall in 2009 by the Miami Heat.
The Heat traded his rights to the New Orleans Hornets (now, the Pelicans) on draft day. Since his days in the bayou, he has also played for the Sacramento Kings, Brooklyn Nets, Boston Celtics, and, most recently, Phoenix Suns.
For his career, he has averaged 12.7 points on 42.9 percent shooting, making 36.2 percent of his 3-pointers. He made 40.6 percent of his shots from beyond the arc with Boston and Phoenix last season.
Thornton's agent, Tony Dutt, told Berman his client is "excited" and feels the Rockets provide a "perfect fit for him."
Thornton himself concurs, it seems. Cue trendy emoji-infused tweet:
