"The Greek Freak" Giannis Antetokounmpo has barely scratched the surface of what he can accomplish in the NBA, which is terrifying considering the rate at which he's developing.
Year | Games | PTS | FG% | RBS | AST | STL | BLK | PER |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
2013-14 | 77 | 6.8 | 41.4 | 4.4 | 1.9 | 0.8 | 0.8 | 10.8 |
2014-15 | 81 | 12.7 | 49.1 | 6.7 | 2.6 | 0.9 | 1 | 14.8 |
Drafted 15th overall by the Milwaukee Bucks in the 2013 NBA Draft, the 20-year-old small forward has become an essential piece on a playoff team in just his second season, helping his team win 26 more games in 2015 than they did the year before.
With limbs that make you think he was Michael Jordan's stunt double in the final moments of "Space Jam," and a charming personality that makes it nearly impossible to dislike him, Antetokounmpo is someone to keep your eye on in the coming years.
As far as his immediate future is concerned, there's certainly room to grow in terms of his shooting and garnering a bigger role in Milwaukee's offense. Antetokounmpo finished the year with a usage rate of 19.6, ranking behind teammates Michael Carter-Williams, Ersan Ilyasova, and O.J. Mayo.
When asked by ESPN's J.A. Adande about potential "new wrinkles" we can expect from his game in 2015-16, Antetokounmpo offered up a short, convincing response:
I asked Giannis Antetokounmpo what new wrinkles we'll see in his game next season. Giannis: "More buckets."

If "more buckets" is what he desires, Antetokounmpo will need to act more aggressive in calling for the ball in a lineup full of capable scorers. With Greg Monroe and a healthy Jabari Parker in the fold, it will be difficult for any one player on the team to go into business for themselves when nearly everyone will want "more buckets."
