The Denver Nuggets continue to perplex some with their plan for building themselves back into a contender.

Despite evidence of rebuilding, the Nuggets have waived 23-year-old guard Jamaal Franklin, according to a report from Eric Pincus of Basketball Insiders.

The Nuggets signed Franklin toward the end of the 2014-15 season, tacking on two non-guaranteed years to give them control over him until 2017. He would have been on the books for the affordable $947,276 minimum had he made the team - and, unlike some contracts of this sort, Franklin's deal had no summer guarantee date after which the Nuggets would be on the hook.

The No. 41 pick of the Memphis Grizzlies in the 2013 draft, Franklin has averaged 1.8 points over 24 NBA games with the Grizzlies and Nuggets, knocking down six of his 13 long-range attempts. A 6-foot-5 wing capable of manning the point in a pinch, Franklin averaged 19.2 points, 8.9 rebounds, and 6.5 assists in 21 D-League games this season and was playing in Las Vegas Summer League with the Nuggets.

Given the D-League production and his age, it seems likely that Franklin will get a training camp look from someone.
