The Houston Rockets and Jason Terry are making progress on a deal that will bring the 16-year veteran back to the team for the 2015-16 season, RealGM's Shams Charania reports.
It's a solid move by Rockets general manager Daryl Morey as his team is in need of additional players with ball-handling and shot-creating capabilities.
After starting point guard Patrick Beverley went down with a season-ending injury last season, the Rockets limped into the postseason with a somewhat depleted roster (reserve big man Donatas Motiejunas was also lost to injury prior to the playoffs), and the 37-year-old Terry was asked to relieve some pressure from an overextended James Harden.
As a member the 2011 Dallas Mavericks championship team, Terry garnered praise for his ability to perform under pressure. Following his time with the Mavs, he had cups of coffee with the Boston Celtics and Brooklyn Nets.
Terry was traded to the Rockets in September 2014, and went on to average seven points and 1.9 assists while shooting 39 percent from beyond the arc.
For his career, Terry has posted averages of 14.8 points, 4.2 assists, and a 38 percent mark from 3-point territory.
