Nuggets waive Prigioni after Lawson deal

Pablo Prigioni's Nuggets tenure lasted a matter of moments.

After acquiring the veteran guard as part of the five-player trade that sent Ty Lawson to Houston, Denver waived Prigioni on Monday.

Had Prigioni not been waived by the end of the day, his $1.7-million salary for next season would have become fully guaranteed. Instead, only $440,000 worth of his 2015-16 salary is.

Before making his release official, the Nuggets were said to be shopping Prigioni.

The 38-year-old point guard, who has spent three seasons in the NBA after a lengthy career in Spain and Argentina, averaged 4.1 points, 2.6 assists, 1.8 rebounds, and 1.2 steals in 67 games with the Rockets and New York Knicks in 2014-15.

Prigioni's shooting bottomed out last season, but he's converted nearly 40 percent of his career 3-point attempts and remains a decent defender at the point of attack, making him a potentially attractive reserve guard for contending teams.
