The Detroit Pistons have officially re-signed 32-year-old veteran center Joel Anthony to a reported two-year, $5-million contract, with the second year not being guaranteed.
Anthony was traded from the Boston Celtics to the Motor City prior to the start of the 2014-15 regular season in exchange for guard Will Bynum.
In 49 games last season with Detroit, the 6-foot-9 Canadian averaged 1.8 points and 1.9 rebounds in just 8.3 minutes per game.
Playing time was hard to come by with Andre Drummond and Greg Monroe soaking up a majority of the frontcourt minutes. With Monroe signing with the Milwaukee Bucks this summer, there may be more of an opportunity for Anthony to see the floor in 2015-16. Although, Ersan Ilyasova and Aron Baynes are now both in the picture as well.
