The Houston Rockets and unrestricted free agent Chuck Hayes have agreed to terms on a one-year veteran's minimum contract, according to Yahoo Sports' Marc J. Spears.
The deal is partially guaranteed, according to multiple reports.
The two sides had been close to a deal for more than a week. The 32-year-old played for the Rockets from 2005 to 2011.
With the trade to bring Ty Lawson to Houston, the Rockets need bench parts after packaging out Kostas Papanikolaou, Pablo Prigioni, Joey Dorsey, and Nick Johnson.
Hayes is somewhat comparable to Dorsey as an undersized center, although considerably smaller. He comes in at only 6-foot-6 and 240 pounds. Hayes spent the past two years with the Toronto Raptors, appearing in 29 games last season.
Hayes had his best NBA season in Houston in 2010-11, averaging 7.9 points and 8.1 rebounds in 63 starts. He has a career field-goal percentage of 49.8.
