The New Orleans Pelicans have waived point guard Toney Douglas, the team announced Friday.
Douglas was originally signed to two consecutive 10-day contracts by the Pelicans in February, then kept for the remainder of the year. A former first-round draft pick, Douglas played in China at the beginning of last season. He averaged 4.3 points and two assists in 12 games for New Orleans.
With Douglas off the roster, Norris Cole's status remains an outstanding issue at backup point guard. The restricted free agent remains unsigned, but Anthony Davis has voiced his hope that Cole returns.
