Thanasis Antetokounmpo is finally getting his shot with the New York Knicks.
The team is finalizing a two-year, partially guaranteed deal with Antetokounmpo, who has spent the past two seasons in the D-League, international basketball reporter David Pick reports.
Earlier this summer, Antetokounmpo's agent explicitly stated his client's interest in joining the big club.
The Knicks selected Antetokounmpo with the 51st pick in the 2014 NBA draft. He spent 2013-14 with the Delaware 87ers before getting drafted by the Knicks, who promptly stashed him with the Westchester Knicks. The 22-year-old averaged 13.9 points, 6.2 rebounds, 1.7 steals, and 1.7 blocks in 32.9 minutes per game last season.
Much like his younger brother Giannis, Thanasis has terrific size for a wing. However, Thanasis' shot is inconsistent and he lacks the ability to handle the ball the way Giannis can.
