The Denver Nuggets have officially re-signed Darrell Arthur, Will Barton, and former All-Star Jameer Nelson to new multi-year deals, the team announced Friday.
Arthur's contract will reportedly run two years, with a player option for the second season, although the finances of the deal are unknown. Barton is set to receive $10 million over three years, while Nelson will sign a three-year contract for $13.5 million.
Arthur, 27, has spent the last three seasons in the Mile High City after coming over from the Memphis Grizzlies in a draft-night trade in 2013. He's averaged 6.2 points on 39.9 percent shooting in 126 appearances with the franchise.
His bread and butter comes on the defensive end, with Denver performing 9.6 points per 100 possessions better with Arthur on the floor. His shooting has fallen off in recent years, but as long as he continues to deliver the goods defensively, Arthur should have a role under new head coach Michael Malone.
The Nuggets were keen on keeping Barton, who excelled after being acquired in the trade that sent Arron Afflalo to the Portland Trail Blazers. He only suited up for 28 games in 2014-15 with the team, but still managed respectable numbers of 11 points and 4.6 rebounds in 24.4 minutes.
Re-signing Nelson adds some much-needed insurance behind rookie Emmanuel Mudiay, who's expected to receive a bulk of the minutes at point guard next season with Ty Lawson now in Houston. The 33-year-old veteran is a career 37.1 percent 3-point shooter, with that number dropping just a tad to 35.4 this past season.
