Report: Dorell Wright mulling offer to play in China; would like to sign with Heat
Sharpshooting forward Dorell Wright remains unsigned after six weeks of free agency, and the 29-year-old may be forced to take his talents overseas.
Wright is considering signing a deal with an unnamed Chinese team, Eurobasket's David Pick reports.
However, if Wright had his way, he'd welcome a reunion with the Miami Heat, the team that drafted him 19th overall in 2004. In an interview with WQAM's "Big O Show" in early July, Wright said he still owns a home in Miami and is familiar with former teammates Udonis Haslem and Dwyane Wade from his six seasons in South Beach.
It's unclear why Wright remains without an NBA team. The 11-year veteran had a ho-hum season with the Portland Trail Blazers in 2014-15, but he is still a capable floor stretcher who can play at the three or the four. He's not a starter by any means, but he holds value as a bench contributor.
Wright averaged 4.6 points and 2.3 rebounds in 12.3 minutes per game last season. He shot 38 percent from deep while splitting time between power forward and small forward.
