Report: Charlie Westbrook headed to camp with Bucks
The Milwaukee Bucks want to let Westbrook be Westbrook. No, not that Westbrook. Charlie Westbrook.
Westbrook has agreed to a deal with the Bucks, according to a report from Shams Charania of RealGM. With 15 guaranteed contracts on their roster, Milwaukee likely added Westbrook on a training camp deal with only a small guarantee, and the lack of a Bucks' D-League affiliate makes a potential post-camp assignment complicated.
The 26-year-old Westbrook went undrafted out of South Dakota in 2012, getting a summer league look from the Orlando Magic that offseason and a training camp stint with the Miami Heat in 2013. He spent 2013-14 in the D-League, sandwiched between seasons in Italy and France.
A volume scorer in college, Westbrook averaged just 9.2 points and 1.9 assists in the D-League, shooting 43.7 percent from the floor and 28.8 percent from long-range. He put up 13.3 points per game this past season, but he did so shooting 29 percent from outside and playing in the French B league.
