Report: Luke Ridnour sitting out 2015-16 season

Troy Taormina-USA TODAY Sports

Getting traded four times over the course of two weeks is probably enough to turn anybody off of life as a marginal NBA player.

That was the reality for Luke Ridnour in late June and the early part of July, when he was flipped from the Orlando Magic to the Memphis Grizzlies, then to the Charlotte Hornets, then the Oklahoma City Thunder, and finally to the Toronto Raptors. And after all of that, the Raptors waived him to be freed of his non-guaranteed $2.75-million salary for 2015-16.

With the whirlwind offseason now behind him, Ridnour has decided not to play in the NBA for the coming season, according to a report from Marc Spears of Yahoo Sports. The erstwhile point guard isn't necessarily retiring yet, but he reportedly spurned interest from teams and it "appears doubtful" he'll return to basketball.

The No. 14 pick in 2003, Ridnour has appeared in 830 games over 12 seasons across five teams. He's averaged 9.3 points, 2.3 rebounds, and 4.5 assists, while hitting 34.9 percent of his 3-point attempts.
