Pelicans officially sign Nate Robinson, waive Mirza Begic
The New Orleans Pelicans have officially added guard Nate Robinson, the team announced on Friday.
News of the Pelicans' impending deal with the 31-year-old was first reported on Thursday. The veteran's minimum deal is not guaranteed, according to Yahoo Sports' Marc J. Spears.
The 5-foot-9 Robinson adds some veteran depth to a Pelicans backcourt that will now be without reserve guard Norris Cole, who sprained his left ankle on Sunday, for an extended period.
Robinson started last season with the Denver Nuggets before being dealt to the Boston Celtics in January. After being immediately waived by the Celtics he signed two 10-day contracts with the Los Angeles Clippers in March, but wasn't retained after the second deal expired. New Orleans will be Robinson's eighth NBA address.
To make room for Robinson, the Pelicans waived center Mirza Begic, who had only been signed by the team on Wednesday.
