After waiting 40 years to raise another championship banner, the Golden State Warriors rewarded their devoted fanbase with a pregame ceremony ahead of Tuesday's season opener against the New Orleans Pelicans.
After a video montage looking back on their triumphant 2014-15 campaign played on the video board, each Warriors coach and player was called out to receive their commemorative rings.
Pelicans coach Alvin Gentry, an assistant on Steve Kerr's Warriors staff last season, received a rousing ovation when he was called upon to claim his ring.
Before unveiling the team's championship banner, reigning MVP Stephen Curry thanked former Warriors David Lee, Justin Holiday, and Ognjen Kuzmic for their contributions to the title run.
