The Phoenix Suns are keeping their former star player close to their hearts, and their feet.

The team will wear custom socks adorned with an image of Steve Nash - about to lick his fingers - in honor of the legendary point guard's induction into the Suns Ring of Honor on Friday.

Love these @stancesocks socks? Your Suns will wear them on court tomorrow night for #NashROH during #SunsVsBlazers. Limited tickets still available at Suns.com.

Set to host the Portland Trail Blazers, Phoenix will be the first team ever in the league to wear a player's image during a game.

"Obviously, the image of Steve licking his fingers stands out," Jay Gaspar, the Suns' equipment manager, told Suns.com.

"As we all know, he was famous for doing that and then brushing his long hair behind his ears. Stance (the sock maker) sent me three images to choose from, and that was a no-brainer. The color was chosen to go with the uniform we will wear Friday, which is orange."
