Report: Joerger on hot seat with Grizzlies off to shaky start
Memphis Grizzlies head coach Dave Joerger's job may be on the line with the team's underwhelming start to the season, according to ESPN's Marc Stein.
The Grizzlies are 3-3 after six games, with the losses coming by margins of 30, 50, and 19 points. Memphis has trailed by 20 or more points for 62 minutes this season, compared to 88 minutes all of last year, and it's for this reason Joerger's on the hot seat, reports Stein.
The Grizzlies have been one of the Western Conference's most consistent teams in the past half-decade, winning 50-plus games the last three seasons. Joerger took over from Lionel Hollins in 2013, and has a 108-62 regular-season record as head coach.
Meanwhile, Robert Pera is known to be a hands-on owner who's butted heads with Joerger in the past. To add grist to the rumor mill, he's also believed to be a fan of Tom Thibodeau, according to Stein.
The usually stout Grizzlies defense has given up almost 108 points per 100 possessions in six games, and have gotten subpar offensive performances from key cogs like Marc Gasol and Mike Conley.
