Heat suspend Gerald Green 2 games for detrimental conduct
The Miami Heat have suspended shooting guard Gerald Green two games for "detrimental conduct," the team announced Tuesday.
Green was admitted to hospital last week for an unknown reason. Reports suggest that Green was a "combative patient" when first responders attended to him in a hotel lobby, although the team has yet to release the full details from Green's incident.
At the very least, a substance violation can be ruled out as a possibility for what happened to Green since his suspension was team-imposed. Substance violations are handled by the league.
Wojnarowski adds that Green wasn't arrested or charged with any crime.
Gerald Green: I want to apologize to my family, fans and the HEAT organization...

Green continued: I accept the suspension and look forward to rejoining my teammates this weekend.

Prior to his hospitalization, Green sat out the Heat's contest against the Atlanta Hawks last Tuesday due to illness. In total, Green has missed the team's last four contests.
In three games with the team, Green holds averages of 10.3 points and .7 rebounds per game while coming off the bench.
The Heat signed Green to a one-year deal at the veteran's minimum this summer.
Green's suspension was first reported by Yahoo's Adrian Wojnarowski.
