VIDEO: Hornets escape as Porzingis' game-winning 3 ruled late

It won't show up in the boxscore, or be reflected in the standings, but Kristaps Porzingis added to his growing legend by serving up a heaping plateful of onions Wednesday night.

Down two to the Charlotte Hornets with 0.6 seconds left in regulation, the New York Knicks - who, you might've heard, employ Carmelo Anthony - opted instead to give the ball to their 7-foot-3, 20-year-old rookie at the top of the arc.

He delivered ...

... but just a hair too late. An official review determined the ball was still in Porzingis' hand as the buzzer sounded, and the Hornets walked off with the 95-93 win.

Porzingis finished with 10 points, 15 rebounds, and two blocks on the night, while those draft-night boos become an increasingly distant memory.

Ultimately overshadowed by the dramatic finish, Cody Zeller dropped in the game-winning layup for the Hornets moments earlier.

The missed opportunity, however, didn't get Porzingis down.
