Clippers' Redick sidelined against Suns with back spasms
Los Angeles Clippers shooting guard J.J. Redick will not play in Thursday's game against the Phoenix Suns due to back spasms, and he may be looking at an extended absence.
The veteran sharpshooter left Wednesday's loss to the Dallas Mavericks in the first half and did not return.
"I don't think it's good, if you want me to be honest," coach Doc Rivers said after the game. "I don't know how long, but it's a big loss for us, obviously."
While it is clearly still very early in the season, Redick is playing at the vaunted 50-40-90 clip, averaging 52.6 percent shooting from the floor, 44.4 percent from deep, and 95.2 percent from the free-throw line in eight games.
With Redick out, the Clippers' offseason depth additions will come in handy. They could start one of Jamal Crawford or Austin Rivers in his place, or slide Lance Stephenson back to the two and start Paul Pierce at the three.
